Business Development and Marketing Officer

Principal Responsibilities of the Role:

The Business Development and Marketing Officer will report to the CEO and will be focused on growing the Credit Union’s lending, membership and brand identity. He/ She will ensure St.Dominic Credit Union are meeting our member’s expectations whilst growing our business responsibly by leading all marketing activity. He/ She will also work with local schools, groups, clubs and businesses to help grow and foster mutually beneficial relationships.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee, design and implement the overall marketing strategy for the credit union
  • Creating and developing relationships with individuals, groups and businesses within our areas of operation;
  • Increasing membership and lending in accordance with our strategic objectives;
  • Contributing to the creation of marketing and advertising campaigns;
  • Ensuring effective use of the credit union website and social media outlets;
  • Developing and implementing initiatives for promotions, events, member information and schools programmes;
  • Conducting market research, data analysis and competitor monitoring to identify potential member service and lending opportunities;
  • Identifying areas for enhancing member service and the St. Dominic Credit Union
  • Assist in the development of new products and services to enhance SDCU offering and performance, whilst maximizing the business potential of the credit union’s 17,000 members
  • Create an awareness of the St. Dominic Credit Union brand to both existing and prospective members, devising and implementing marketing strategies and campaigns with a focus on our digital channels
  • Devise and implement measures to ascertain the service levels experienced by members when applying for loans
  • Along with the CEO implement a member communications plan to improve member engagement and loyalty
  • In conjunction with the CEO and Compliance and Risk Officers ensure that the Credit Union is in compliance with all statutory and other appropriate regulatory requirements
  • Support the CEO in any undertakings pertaining to the Credit Union


The successful candidate should have the following:

  • 3+ years experience within financial services is desirable
  • Appropriate third level degree or equivalent
  • A digital Marketing qualification is desirable
  • Strong business development experience, digital marketing experience desirable
  • Customer focus with an emphasis on delivery, proven problem solving capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and relationship building skills
  • Appropriate attention to detail, to ensure that the Credit Union meets its responsibilities as a regulated entity


The position is based SDCU, Summerhill, Waterford and other locations as directed by the CEO/Board of Directors
